What to achieve?

Improve the sanitary management in both public and private sectors in order to optimize the competitiveness of the Chilean aquaculture in relation to disease loses.

Improve the sanitary information management of the aquaculture industry addressing the gaps in strategic research and integrated data analysis.

Improve the decision making process of the National Fishery Service.

How to achieve it?

Establishing, together with observers from Chile and abroad, the gaps to define the potential working areas.

Develop the following research fields: Epidemiology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Host, Pharmacology.

Assembling processes for knowledge and results transfer and diffusion.

Teaching and training specialized human resources of each research field.

What for?

To rely on scientific information as a public good to improve the efficiency of the disease control Programmes of Sernapesca.

Create recommendations for public policy in order to maintain the sustainability and improve the productivity of the national aquaculture.


The project started in 2015 and considers to end in December 2018, verifying impact indicators in 2019.
